Police say Mandrax and ecstasy tablets were discovered at a Krugersdorp farm during a joint SAPS Crime Intelligence and Hawks operation on Thursday.
Police say five people were arrested after a suspected drug-manufacturing laboratory was uncovered at a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng, on Thursday, 8 October.
The operation involved the South African Police Service’s Crime Intelligence division and the Hawks, according to reports by eNCA and Eyewitness News. Police reported finding Mandrax and ecstasy tablets at the property.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the five people arrested at the premises were South African nationals. In comments reported by The Bulrushes, she said senior police officers were heading to the farm while further assessments and investigations continued.
The initial reports described a multi-million-rand laboratory but did not specify a value or the quantities recovered. They also did not identify the suspects or provide charges or a court appearance date. The investigation was continuing on Thursday morning.
