Petrol Costs Over N3,000/Litre in UK, Nigeria Doing Very Well – Okpebholo

Monday Okpebholo, governor of Edo, says petrol costs over N3000 per litre in the United Kingdom (UK), noting that Nigeria is doing well at the current price.

Okpebholo spoke in a viral video circulated on X on Friday, saying the country is in safe hands under President Bola Tinubu.

“Nigeria is in a safe hand. When we complained about the cost of petrol, I was in London last week,” he said.

“I told my friends, let’s go and buy fuel just to know the cost of fuel between Nigeria and England. Let me tell you. After conversion, it’s about N3000 something to one litre of fuel. We are doing very well here.”

As of September 24, the average UK petrol price was about £1.74 per litre, equivalent to more than N3,000 at the prevailing exchange rate.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited’s latest pump-price list puts petrol at N1,385 per litre in Lagos and N1,430 in Abuja, although prices vary across locations.

The governor described Tinubu as an economist who is doing everything necessary to stabilise the economy.

“Our president is not a supermarket man,” he said.

“The supermarket people, let them wait. When it’s time for a supermarket to rule Nigeria and technocrats are not here again, then, they will come.”
