The Supreme Court today delivered an important ruling against former Minister A.H.M. Fowzie, finding that the fundamental rights of the public had been violated through the improper use of a government vehicle for private purposes. Sri Lanka Latest News

Accordingly, the Supreme Court ordered the former Minister to pay a total of Rs. 6.6 million to the Consolidated Fund. Of this amount, Rs. 1,664,334.93 must be paid within one month, while the remaining amount must be paid within two months.

In addition, the Supreme Court ordered the former Minister to publish, within one month, a half-page public apology featuring a photograph of the misused vehicle on the front pages of all three newspapers — Silumina, Sunday Observer and Thinakaran.
