1. The House of Representatives says it traced 58 bank accounts and 39 workers to the alleged fake Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council, PFIPC. The House ad hoc committee investigating the council disclosed this on Wednesday during its sitting, saying preliminary financial information showed that more than 30 of the accounts were apparently operated in the names of about nine agencies and companies.

3. Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has said he would become the first target should President Bola Tinubu lose the 2027 presidential election to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi. Wike, who has made his support for Tinubu’s re-election a central feature of his current political activities despite remaining in opposition, said he was fully aware of the consequences of the position he had taken.

4. Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised terrorists and intercepted 793 rounds of ammunition during separate operations in Zamfara and Kaduna states. The operations were conducted on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as part of the military’s sustained offensive against terrorist groups operating across the North-West.

5. Troops of the Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army, have rescued Mrs Adonkie, the wife of Brig. Gen. Basil Adonkie (rtd.), hours after she was abducted from her residence in Abuja. The Brigade disclosed this in a special situation report made available to NSN on Wednesday. The report said Mrs Adonkie was abducted at about 10:30 pm on September 1, prompting the deployment of troops in a coordinated pursuit of the kidnappers.

6. Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi has vowed that any local government chairman who fails to secure victory for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 elections will be removed. He said this in Abakaliki, the state capital, during the inauguration of the new chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of the 13 Local Government Areas.

7. The Independent National Electoral Commission has warned that artificial intelligence-driven disinformation poses a serious threat to the credibility of the 2027 general elections, calling for electoral technology and communication to be treated as a single discipline. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, also disclosed that the commission was conducting a comprehensive audit of its electoral technology systems and considering a mock presidential election to test its readiness ahead of the polls.

8. The Nigeria Democratic Congress has disowned 10 candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission for the 2027 Anambra State House of Assembly elections, insisting that it neither nominated the persons nor submitted their Form EC9E documents. The party also demanded an immediate electronic audit of INEC’s nomination portal to determine how the names and credentials of the candidates allegedly found their way into the commission’s system.

9. Rivers State Police Command has dismissed three officers linked to the killing of a University of Port Harcourt graduate, Anthony Obodo, in the Ada George area of Port Harcourt last Thursday. The command also declared an inspector identified as Solomon Nworgu, who was allegedly part of the patrol team and fled the scene after the shooting, a deserter, saying efforts were ongoing to apprehend him.

10. A Celestial Church of Christ evangelist, Abidemi Odukoya, and his wife, Adenike, have reportedly died in separate circumstances following an alleged domestic altercation at their residence in the Akinode/Ibogun community, Ogun State. It was learnt that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 25, after the couple allegedly engaged in a domestic dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.
