King Mohammed VI congratulates Ahmed Touizi on election as House Speaker

King Mohammed VI has sent a congratulatory message to Ahmed Touizi following his election as speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives.

In the message, the King expressed his “warm congratulations” to Touizi and wished him every success in his new parliamentary duties.

The monarch said he hoped the confidence placed in Touizi for the constitutional position, together with his extensive parliamentary experience, would help him make every effort, alongside the House’s members, to improve the performance of the institution.

King Mohammed VI called for greater efficiency and effectiveness in parliamentary work, particularly by improving the quality of legislation and accelerating the pace of legislative and oversight activities.

He also stressed the importance of placing the supreme interests of the country and its citizens above all other considerations, in line with the ethical responsibilities and obligations of parliamentary service.

The King concluded by praying for Touizi’s success and that of all members of the House of Representatives in carrying out their duties.
