Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has turned down a staggering £133 million contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, marking the second consecutive summer he has rebuffed lucrative overtures from the Middle Eastern club,according to The Mirror.
The proposed four-year deal, which would have seen the Portuguese midfielder earn approximately £640,000 per week, was formally presented to the 31-year-old’s representatives in recent weeks. Al Hilal had also approached Manchester United with a transfer proposal worth nearly £100 million for the playmaker.
While the Premier League club did not immediately dismiss the approach, it was ultimately Fernandes himself who decided against the move, according to reports from The Sunday Mirror.
The latest rejection follows a similar pattern from last summer, when Fernandes came close to departing Old Trafford before ultimately choosing to remain with the club. Al Hilal’s renewed interest came with an improved financial package, but the United captain remained steadfast in his commitment to the Red Devils.
Manchester United have consistently maintained that Fernandes is not for sale, with club officials making their position clear to interested parties. Earlier in the transfer window, Galatasaray, Juventus, and AC Milan all expressed interest in signing the midfielder, but United promptly informed all three clubs that their inquiries were “wasting their time.”
Neither Manchester United nor Fernandes’ representatives have issued an official comment on the latest Saudi approach. The Portuguese international, who joined United from Sporting CP in January 2020, remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2027, with the option of a further year.
