Young Apostles in a hard-fought victory over Aduana FC

Young Apostles FC returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aduana FC at the Wenchi Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Samuel Prempeh scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot on the brink of halftime to hand the Wenchi-based side all three points in their Matchday Six encounter.

The victory provides a timely boost for Apostles, who went into the regional derby seeking to end a difficult run of three consecutive league defeats.

Playing in front of their home supporters, the Apostles were determined to turn their fortunes around against an Aduana side that arrived in Wenchi on the back of three successive league victories.

The hosts eventually found the breakthrough through Prempeh, whose composed finish from the spot just before the interval proved decisive in a closely contested encounter.

Aduana entered the game with considerable confidence after recording an impressive 2-1 comeback victory over Swedru All Blacks in their previous fixture, with Stephen Amankona scoring both goals.

However, the Dormaa-based outfit were unable to extend their winning streak, suffering another setback on the road as their struggles away from home continued.

The defeat also denied the Ogya Boys an opportunity to build on their recent momentum following their historic first-ever league victory over Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.

For Apostles, Sunday’s triumph marks an important response to their recent struggles and offers renewed encouragement as they look to build consistency in the ongoing campaign.

Prempeh’s first-half penalty ultimately separated the two sides, with the hosts holding on to secure a valuable victory and restore confidence ahead of their next Ghana Premier League assignment.
