Pops YG freed on $300K pre-charge bail after lottery scam probe

Entertainer and popular social media personality Pops YG has been released on $300,000 pre-charge bail following his arrest during a TikTok livestream at his Trelawny home on Monday.

Pops YG, whose real name is Ansel Fairclough, was granted bail after being questioned by police in connection with suspected breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act, commonly known as the lottery scam law.

His attorney, Donnovan Collins, confirmed the development on Wednesday.

“My client has maintained his innocence. He was interviewed in my presence. It was one of the longest question-and-answer sessions I have done in a while. He answered all the questions to show the investigators that he had nothing to hide,” Collins told The STAR.

Fairclough was arrested at his home in Holland Estate, Trelawny, while he was livestreaming on TikTok.

Three other men were also arrested during the police operation.

Collins, who also represents the three men, said one of them has since been charged under the Law Reform (Fraudulent Transactions) (Special Provisions) Act.

The other two men were released without being charged.

Fairclough remains free on pre-charge bail as investigations continue.
