Kwara: A Girl Was Kidnapped, Ransom Was Paid, And When She Returned, She Was Pregnant – Akah Reveals

In an interview on Symfoni TV on Saturday, October 24, 2026, Peter Akah, a Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency in Cross River State, raised concerns about insecurity after recounting an alleged kidnapping incident involving a girl in Kwara State.

Akah referred to the case while discussing the security challenges confronting Nigerians and the consequences of kidnapping for victims and their families. He used the account to highlight the human cost of insecurity and the difficulties families face when trying to secure the release of loved ones.

Recounting the incident, Akah said, “A girl was kidnapped, ransom was paid, and when she returned, she was pregnant.” His statement presented the case as an example of the serious risks and lasting consequences associated with kidnapping.

The allegation, as recounted by Akah, raises concerns about the safety of victims and the need for effective measures to prevent abductions, protect those held captive and support survivors after their release. The specific circumstances of the reported incident were not independently established in the interview excerpt.

Akah also criticised the broader security situation in the country, arguing that Nigerians deserved protection and that public officials should be held accountable for addressing threats to their lives and property. He maintained that insecurity remained an important issue for voters ahead of the 2027 general election.

He concluded that governments and security agencies needed to strengthen efforts to prevent kidnapping, protect vulnerable citizens and ensure that survivors received appropriate support, while calling for greater attention to the security concerns affecting communities across Nigeria.
