‘Help me acquire a visa’ – Kwaku Bonsam appeals to Mahama, Ablakwa for US medical travel assistance

Traditional priest Nana Kwaku Bonsam has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa to help him secure the necessary travel documents and visa to access further medical treatment in the United States.
He says he is prepared to bear the cost of the trip and medical expenses himself but needs assistance with the documentation required to travel.
Nana Kwaku Bonsam hopes to undergo a skin graft at Harlem Hospital in the US to treat a scar and wounds on his face, which he says have continued to cause him discomfort and disrupt his sleep.
“Kindly help me treat the wounds on my face. All I need at the moment is to be able to treat the wounds on my face. If I am able to undergo a skin graft on my face, I will be okay,” he said in Twi in a video shared on Facebook.
The traditional priest said he had previously received treatment for part of his face at a hospital in the US and believes further medical care there could improve his condition.
He is asking the authorities to help him obtain a service passport or provide an official letter to support his application for a visa at the US Embassy.
“I was able to treat this part of my face at a hospital in the US, so they should help me acquire a visa to enable me to travel to the US to undergo a skin graft at Harlem Hospital. I will pay all the expenses myself,” he said.
Nana Kwaku Bonsam also expressed concern that his condition had persisted despite medication prescribed by a physician.
He disclosed that he recently spent about GH¢6,200 on prescribed drugs and completed the course but saw no improvement.
“I find it very difficult to sleep at night. I do not want to take any medication that could cause me to develop an allergic reaction.
“Recently, a physician prescribed some drugs for me which cost about GH¢6,200. I completed the course, but my condition has still not improved,” he said.
He reiterated that he was not seeking financial support from the government for his treatment but wanted help navigating the travel and visa process.
“All I need is for the authorities to help me acquire a visa,” he stressed.
His appeal has generated reactions on Facebook, with some commenters mocking him and questioning why he could not heal himself, given his public claims of possessing supernatural powers.
