In St Montague Village, Lavender Hill, two men were killed and another wounded in a drive-by shooting on Saturday afternoon.

Provincial police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg confirmed the victims came under fire from a group of suspects in a silver vehicle.

Twigg said: “The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Saturday afternoon, 10 October 2026, at about 5.40pm, in St Ambrose Circle, St Montague Village, where two males aged 36 and 43 were shot and fatally wounded and a 43-year-old male wounded, are under investigation.

“Steenberg police were called to the crime scene, where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies. The 36- and 43-year-old victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment in a private vehicle.

“According to reports, unknown suspects in a silver vehicle drove up to the victims and shot them before fleeing the scene. The motive for the attack is believed to be gang-related.

“Steenberg detectives are investigating two counts of murder and one of attempted murder.”

In a separate shooting in Voel Street, Belgravia, on Saturday, a 65-year-old woman and a man were killed, while another man was wounded. One of the victims is believed to be a foreign national.

Twigg said: “Athlone police registered two counts of murder and one of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Saturday evening, 10 October 2026, at about 7pm, in Voel Street, Belgravia, in which an adult male and a 65-year-old female were shot and fatally wounded, and an adult male wounded.

“Police members responded to a complaint of a shooting and upon arrival on the scene they found the victims who sustained gunshot wounds to their bodies. One adult male and the 65-year-old female were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment.

“The motive for the attack is believed to be gang related and no arrests have been made yet.”
