Jack Fletcher sees red as Lacey headlines five Man Utd stars in win against Germany U20s

**There was a strong Man Utd representation when England U20s faced Germany U20s, and Jack Fletcher and Shea Lacey summed up two extreme experiences. **

It speaks volumes about the strength of Man Utd’s youth setup that the age-group sides for the national team are full of young Red Devils.

England U20s faced off against Germany in the third game of their U20 Elite League campaign, and Man Utd fans were treated to five of their players in action.

Here’s how they fared as the Young Lions won 2-1 to maintain a perfect start to their campaign.

Jack Fletcher sees red and Shea Lacey headlines five players

Shea Lacey has been a man on a mission of late, shining for both the club and national sides in his limited appearances.

He shone again vs Germany, playing in the No. 10 position and proving to be a handful for the German defenders with his trickery and shiftiness.

He was one of four Man Utd players to start the game, as Harry Amass was a left-back, Ayden Heaven was next to him, while Jack Fletcher started curiously at right-back.

Fletcher was sent off at the stroke of half-time for a high challenge to sum up a frustrating game in a weird position for him.

Amass and Heaven played the full 90 and played their role in preventing Germany from scoring their equaliser.

Jim Thwaites replaced Lacey at half-time to complete the quota of Man Utd players, and he had a good game as well, playing slightly further forward than he is used to at club level. Thwaites debuted for the U20s last week.

Neil Ryan is the England U20s coach, who was previously an academy manager at Old Trafford, so there is clearly a level of trust from the manager in players who came through Carrington.

Five players in action in a marquee game against Germany deserve applause for the work done by the coaches in the academy. Fletcher would just hope to put this game behind him.
