Court orders Wike’s son to produce American passport in $2.1m land suit

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to produce his American passport during proceedings in a $2.1 million land dispute.

Justice Sylvanus Oriji issued the order on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, following an application by counsel to the claimants, Hamza Dantani, during the hearing of the suit.

The case, marked CV/008/2026, was filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited against Jordan over an alleged failed land acquisition deal involving 60 hectares of land in Abuja.

The claimants alleged that they engaged Jordan to facilitate the acquisition of 30 hectares of land in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.

According to the claimants, Jordan demanded $2.1 million as facilitation fees, comprising $2 million allegedly intended for his father, the FCT minister, and $100,000 as his personal fee.

They further alleged that the money was delivered on September 26, 2025, in the presence of witnesses, while Jordan was accompanied by an associate.

However, Jordan has denied the allegations, insisting that he neither received the money nor participated in the alleged transaction.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Jordan adopted his statement on oath and denied the claims made against him.

The claimants’ counsel subsequently questioned him about his whereabouts on September 26, 2025, the date they alleged the money was paid.

Jordan told the court that he was outside Nigeria on that day and had travelled using his American international passport.

Following his response, Dantani applied for an order directing him to produce the passport in court.

Justice Oriji granted the application and ordered Jordan to present the document.

The court also granted an application by the claimants’ counsel directing Jordan to write his full name and signature five times each on a plain sheet of paper. The application was not opposed by the defence.

The handwriting and signature samples were requested during cross-examination as part of the proceedings.

Jordan, represented by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Ogwu Onoja, has maintained his innocence, denying any involvement in the alleged transaction.

In his defence, he reportedly disputed the claimants’ account of events and challenged the authenticity of documents allegedly bearing his signature.

The dispute centres on a proposed joint venture involving the development of residential properties in Katampe and Guzape.

According to the claimants, they entered into an agreement with Jordan and two companies, Apostle Associate Limited and Creekstone General Contractor Limited, for the construction of 24 six-bedroom detached duplexes.

They alleged that they were required to contribute $4.2 million towards the project, while Jordan was responsible for providing the land.

The claimants further alleged that they paid $2.1 million but did not receive the promised land or a refund.

Jordan, however, has denied receiving the money and described the allegations as an attempt to blackmail him and damage his father’s reputation.

The court proceedings are ongoing, and the allegations against Jordan have yet to be established.

The case was adjourned to December 1, 2 and 14, 2026, for continuation of the hearing.
