THE Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) has disowned correspondence circulating in the public domain and supposedly delivered to Parliament purporting to recall five of its public representatives.
The letters, dated October 7, and stamped as received on October 9, 2026, respectively, claim elected officials; Bulawayo City Mayor and Ward 4 Councillor David Coltart, Bulawayo province Senator Ivumile Kucaca Phulu,
Surrender Kapoikilu, Bulawayo Central MP, Mbizo (Kwekwe) MP Corban Madzivanyika and Epworth North legislator Togarepi Zivai Mhetu, Epworth North, had ceased to be members of the CCC party.
In a statement issued by interim national spokesperson Nqobizitha Mlilo, the CCC stated that the purported recalls had no factual, political, or legal basis and do not represent the position of the party.
“We have consistently maintained that our current trajectory is defined by party reconstruction, institutional renewal, and structural consolidation. Recalls of elected public representatives are not a political weapon of choice for this leadership,” part of the statement read.
The CCC Tshlabangu-led faction said preliminary internal investigations identified specific individuals as being behind the correspondence, accusing them of deploying recalls as a tool of extortion and coercion to force false allegiance from elected officials, and failing that, to destabilise the party through rumour-mongering and divisive behaviour.
The CCC added that the conduct of these individuals may amount to contempt of court, and that legal counsel has been briefed to advise on the appropriate course of action.
The party reassured all its public representatives, stakeholders and the general public that all disciplined public representatives must continue to discharge their constitutional mandates with absolute certainty, and that their tenure remains secure up to at least 2030.
