The Management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has announced the temporary closure of the College of Nursing Sciences with effect from Thursday, 27th August 2026, until further notice.
The decision was taken in response to ongoing renovation works at the students’ hostel and the current accommodation challenges, which have raised concerns about students’ safety, welfare and ability to learn effectively.
Management acknowledged the concerns raised by students regarding insecurity, hardship and delays in the completion of the hostel facilities. It reiterated that the safety, welfare and dignity of students remain a top priority.
Accordingly, all academic activities, including lectures, clinical postings and examinations, are suspended during the period of the temporary closure.
A revised academic calendar will be communicated once normal academic activities resume.
The College hostel will also remain closed until the renovation works are completed and the facility is certified safe for occupation.

Students are advised to remain in contact with their Class Representatives and the Office of the Dean, Student Affairs, for official updates and further directives. They are equally urged to avoid any activities or situations that may compromise their safety during this period.
Management sincerely regrets the inconvenience this temporary closure may cause students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders. However, the decision is considered necessary to safeguard the students and ensure that academic activities resume in a safe, secure and conducive environment.
The Hospital Management appreciates the patience, understanding and cooperation of students, parents, guardians and all stakeholders as efforts continue to resolve the situation as urgently as possible.
Further information regarding resumption and the revised academic calendar will be communicated in due course, as contained in a statement signed by Usman Abdullahi Koli, Head, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, ATBUTH, Bauchi, made available to journalists on Saturday.
