Late CJ Bheki Maphalala repatriated from South Africa

MBABANE – The body of the late Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala has been repatriated into the country from South Africa.

Maphalala’s body was transported into Eswatini by a B3 Funeral white Mercedes from South Africa through the Ngwenya Border Gate. The body was welcomed by Maphalala’s family, members of the judiciary, lawyers, magistrates, close friends, and the general public.

Prior to the body’s arrival, authorities engaged in the necessary paperwork from both sides while the convoy, including vehicles from B3 Funeral, was being organised. The convoy was led by a police traffic motorbike and police escorts.

At the border gate, those present to welcome Maphalala’s body held a short prayer after a brief song, ‘Kanye nawe nkosiyami’. From Ngwenya Border Gate, the body was transported to B3 Funerals in Mbabane.

It was initially arranged that the body would be transferred from the South African-registered vehicle to a local on, but a sudden change of plan, resulted in the body delivered to the local B3 Mortuary by the South African registered vehicle.
