Remi Tinubu Hopes To Leave Aso Rock In 2031 To Enjoy A Better Nigeria
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has expressed hope of leaving the Presidential Villa in 2031 to enjoy a better Nigeria, saying she wants to experience the country’s progress as a woman in her 70s.
She made the remarks on Friday, October 23, 2026, during the inauguration of the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots organisation mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” the First Lady said.
She expressed optimism about the country’s future, pointing to changes in Nigeria’s airports as evidence of progress under her husband’s administration.
First Lady Points To Changes At Nigerian Airports
Speaking at the event, Mrs Tinubu said she wanted to experience a Nigeria where travelling was easier and more convenient, particularly as she grew older.
She cited developments at the country’s airports as an example of improvements she believed were taking place under the current administration.
The First Lady also suggested that some Nigerians had failed to recognise the country’s progress.
According to her, those who could not see the changes might need “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses”.
Her remarks came amid public debate over the administration’s economic reforms, rising living costs and the state of public infrastructure.
Remi Tinubu Backs Husband’s 2027 Re-Election Bid
The First Lady also expressed support for President Tinubu’s bid for a second term, urging continued backing for his administration.
She subsequently commissioned the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, which is working to mobilise grassroots support for the President ahead of the 2027 general election.
The group is part of the political mobilisation efforts supporting Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, is seeking another four-year term in the 2027 presidential election.
The First Lady’s remarks reflect the administration’s position that its policies and ongoing projects will deliver improvements Nigerians can experience in their daily lives.
