GFA announces three-year bib programme for registered Colts Clubs

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will provide every registered Colts Club with two sets of training bibs each year for the next three seasons.

GFA President and CAF 2nd Vice-President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku announced the support package at the launch of the 2026/27 Colts Football Season at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

The scheme is the latest investment in Ghanas Colts football structure and is intended to give grassroots clubs sustained logistical and technical support.

All registered Colts Clubs in good standing will be eligible for the annual allocation. The bibs are intended to assist clubs during training, support player development and help them organise grassroots competitions.

It is the first time the GFA has committed to providing dedicated bib support to Colts Clubs over a multi-year period. The association said the initiative would help create improved conditions for young footballers developing their talents.

The bibs form part of a wider three-year package announced by President Okraku at the season launch. That package also includes footballs, jerseys and casual shoes for Colts Clubs.

Eligible Colts players will continue to benefit from free registration and digital licences under the wider support programme.

The GFA is also directing resources towards the people needed to maintain and develop grassroots football. Its plans include further investment in coaching education and expanded training opportunities for scouts, referees, administrators and other key stakeholders.

President Simeon-Okraku said the measures were part of a deliberate strategy to strengthen the foundations of Ghana football. The objective, according to the GFA, is to ensure Colts Clubs have access to the basic equipment and assistance required to operate effectively.

The annual bib allocation represents a new logistical commitment within that strategy, while the provision of other equipment and free player registration is designed to support clubs and young players across the three-season period.

The announcement was made as the 2026/27 Colts Football Season was officially launched at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, with the GFA setting out its broader plans for grassroots development.

The associations programme combines material support for clubs with investment in coaching and the development of other football personnel, covering both the day-to-day requirements of Colts football and the longer-term growth of the game.
