AI summary
The Adansi Asokwa District Assembly in the Ashanti Region has commissioned a new administration block, ending years of operating from rented premises and providing a permanent base for its administrative activities.
The facility, located at Asokwa, is expected to improve coordination among district officials and enhance the delivery of public services to residents.
Speaking to Adom News correspondent Isaac K. Normanyo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Albert Dakurah, described the commissioning as a major relief for the Assembly, which had been paying GH¢68,000 every three months to rent office accommodation.
He said the absence of a permanent office had created difficulties for the Assembly’s operations, forcing some senior officers to work from their homes.
Mr Dakurah expressed satisfaction that the new administration block would provide a more suitable working environment for staff and improve interaction between officials and residents.
He was optimistic that the facility would strengthen the Assembly’s administrative capacity and help accelerate development projects across communities in the district.
The Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, Godwin Animli Dorgbadzi Dorani, also welcomed the completion of the project, describing it as an important step towards addressing the Assembly’s longstanding accommodation challenges.
He said the Assembly had faced years of uncertainty over its rented premises, including the embarrassment and possibility of eviction.
According to the MP, the lack of a permanent office had affected staff productivity and hindered the effective implementation of development projects.
He expressed hope that the new facility would give Assembly workers the stability and working conditions needed to serve residents more efficiently.
The commissioning marks a significant development for the Adansi Asokwa District Assembly as it seeks to strengthen local administration, improve service delivery and coordinate development initiatives across the district.
