Standard Bank Namibia has launched the new URewards competition that will give one lucky client and one lucky employee, each accompanied by a partner, the opportunity to travel to South Africa and watch Namibia’s African Stars football team take on Orlando Pirates at the iconic Orlando Stadium.

The competition reflects the bank’s commitment to creating meaningful value for clients beyond traditional banking by connecting everyday financial behaviour with memorable life experiences.

The launch event was headlined by Namibian football legend and coach Ricardo Mannetti, who praised the initiative for celebrating Namibian talent on an international stage while giving ordinary Namibians access to opportunities they may not otherwise experience.

“Whenever Namibian athletes compete internationally, they carry the hopes and pride of an entire nation with them,” said Mannetti.

“This competition is about more than football. It is about giving Namibians a chance to be part of that journey, to witness our talent competing at a high level, and to create lifelong memories. I commend Standard Bank for creating opportunities for its clients that go beyond banking and connect people to experiences that inspire.”

The competition is linked to Standard Bank’s URewards programme, which rewards eligible clients with monthly cashback when they consistently use their Standard Bank Mastercard for everyday purchases.

Speaking at the launch, Felcia Jooste, Manager of everyday banking at Standard Bank Namibia, said the competition demonstrates how the bank continues to reward clients for banking behaviour they already practice daily.

“At Standard Bank, we believe loyalty should be rewarded. Through URewards, clients can earn cashback every month simply by using their Standard Bank Mastercard consistently. This competition takes that value proposition a step further by giving our clients the opportunity to turn everyday spending into an unforgettable experience. It is one of the many ways we are ensuring that banking delivers tangible benefits in our clients’ lives.”
