UN Announces Over 30 Jobs for Kenyans with Tight Deadline – How to Apply

The United Nations (UN) has advertised more than 30 job and internship opportunities for professionals in Nairobi, offering candidates a chance to work with the international organisation.

The vacancies, published on the UN’s official careers website, cover different roles and target applicants with varying levels of professional experience, including those seeking internship placements.

According to the listings, the application deadlines fall in October and November 2026, meaning interested candidates need to check each vacancy carefully to avoid missing the closing dates.

Nairobi hosts several UN agencies, including the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and UN-Habitat, making the Kenyan capital an important centre for the organisation’s operations in Africa.

Interested candidates are advised to visit the official UN careers portal and review the available vacancies, including the qualifications, experience, duty station and deadline for each position.

Applicants are generally required to create a profile on the organisation’s Inspira recruitment platform, provide their personal and professional details, and upload the necessary application documents.

Depending on the position, candidates may need to submit a curriculum vitae, cover letter and responses to competency-based questions.

Applicants should ensure their information is accurate and that their documents clearly demonstrate how their qualifications and experience match the requirements of the advertised role.

After the application period closes, shortlisted candidates may be invited to undertake assessments or participate in interviews as part of the recruitment process.

Career development expert Simon Ingari advised job seekers to research the organisation and tailor their applications to the specific positions they are pursuing.

“Private or global organisations look for readiness, professionalism, and alignment with their mission. A well-presented application, submitted through the right channel, still beats connections and shortcuts,” Ingari told TUKO.co.ke.

He encouraged applicants to understand the UN’s values, culture, current projects and objectives, explaining that their CVs and cover letters should reflect relevant skills and experience.

Prospective applicants should confirm the requirements and closing dates on the official UN careers website before submitting their applications. They should also apply through the designated recruitment portal rather than relying on unofficial intermediaries.
