Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s popularity once again, became very visible this afternoon.
He was given a rousing welcome during the NPP national executive election, which was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Regional capital.
Dr. Bawumia, who is the NPP presidential candidate for the upcoming 2028 presidential election, stormed the programme venue with his dear wife, Samira Bawumia.
Significantly, there was spontaneous applause and wild jubilations when the convoy of Dr. Bawumia and his wife emerged on the tartan tracks in the stadium.
Some party people and media personnel present were seen running behind the slow moving vehicle, amid the singing of victory songs by the ecstatic looking NPP members.
Dr. Bawumia from his body language clearly enjoyed what he was witnessing at the stadium. He was seen intermittently waving back to the thousands of NPP members present.
The ex-Vice President exchanged pleasantries with some party leaders at the programme before he eventually took his seat at the VVIP section of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Even after Dr. Bawumia had taken his seat, the party delegates, who clearly love and adore him so much, were still on their feet and shouting the name of Dr. Bawumia.
Dr. Bawumia, it would be recalled, became a household name in the country political arena after excelling as Vice President for 8 years. His leadership positively impacted the country.
His popularity in the NPP also became very visible when he was massively elected by delegates as the NPP presidential candidate for both the 2024 and 2028 elections.
