Mothers get a night to themselves
AI summary
Every day, mothers manage different responsibilities, from taking care of their children and running households to balancing work and family commitments. With busy schedules and many demands, finding time for themselves is often difficult.
On Saturday night, mothers had an opportunity to step away from their routines and enjoy an evening dedicated to them at Motherhood Namibia’s Mom’s Night Off, held at the Windhoek Country Club Resort.
The event, held under the theme “Sparkle, Shine, Celebrate You”, brought mothers together for an evening of conversations, entertainment and connection.
Founder of Motherhood Namibia, Selma Bachler, said the idea behind Mom’s Night Off was to create a space where mothers could relax, connect with others and enjoy time away from their daily responsibilities.
“Mom’s Night Off was created because mothers deserve a space where they do not have to be everything for everyone for just one evening. They deserve to be seen, heard, celebrated and reminded that they matter too,” Bachler said.
She said the event was about giving mothers a chance to reconnect with themselves and celebrate their journeys.
The evening featured speaker, author and philanthropist Rachel Kolisi, who shared messages on motherhood, resilience and personal growth.
Kolisi spoke about the importance of taking time for oneself while navigating the different responsibilities that come with life.
The programme also included a panel discussion featuring Vincia Cloete, Adél Oosthuizen, Ntokozo Magadla and Tuwilika Shitaleni, who shared their experiences and discussed the realities of motherhood, including balancing family responsibilities and personal goals.
Guests were also entertained by performances from Niita and Sally Boss Madam, who brought music and energy to the evening.
Motherhood Namibia thanked FNB Namibia, the main sponsor of the event, as well as Pupkewitz Motors and Bakpro for supporting the initiative.
The organisation said the support from partners helped make it possible to bring mothers together for an evening of connection and appreciation.
For many attendees, Mom’s Night Off was a chance to take a break from their usual routines, meet other mothers and enjoy a moment dedicated to themselves.
