Matheus Cunha’s performance has Man Utd fans putting him in same bracket as two other standouts who ‘showed up’

Matheus Cunha caught the eye of Manchester United fans after the Red Devils’ 1-1 Premier League draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday evening.

Manchester United and Fulham played out a lacklustre 0-0 first-half scoreline at Craven Cottage, as Senne Lammens was called into action for the Red Devils.

Fulham took a lead over United in the second half after Lisandro Martinez bundled the ball past a scrambling Senne Lammens and over the line at Craven Cottage.

However, Michael Carrick avoided being left red-faced ahead of the international break after Matheus Cunha scored a long-range equaliser late in the second half.

Not only did Matheus Cunha come to the Red Devils’ rescue, but Manchester United fans also showered the Brazil forward with the biggest praise of all after Sunday.

Red Devils supporters insisted that Cunha, Senne Lammens and Kobbie Mainoo were the three players who could walk away with their heads held high on Sunday.

“Cunha, Mainoo and Lammens [were] the only players who played alright today,” one Man Utd fan said.

Someone else commented: “Lucky to get a point. Lammens, Cunha, Mainoo [were the] only ones to show up.”

Bar Cunha, Mainoo and Lammens, pretty poor from the rest. Fine margin setup, no wonder we’re losing these closely,” a third Red Devils supporter shared.

And a fourth X user claimed: “Regardless of the result, Cunha, Mainoo and Lammens can hold their head[s] up high. The rest…. The less said the better!”

“I think Mainoo can [hold his head up high], too, but I agree with Lammens and Cunha — the rest [were] awful,” another added.

Somebody else wrote: “Cunha is being scapegoated as a false 9, always looks so much better out on the left. Mainoo and Lammens [were] our best players.”

A seventh tweeted: “Lammens, Mainoo and Cunha [were] decent but why are the players not running until we go behind what’s happened?”

“Things will get better in mid-October or late October once every player is in form like Cunha, Mainoo, Lammens. Then it will click,” an eighth posted.

Man Utd are 12th in the Premier League table and have five points after their opening five league matches of the 2026-27 campaign under Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

Several United first-team players will now be away from Old Trafford for the rest of September and the early part of October because of the extended international break.
