Former Ajax and Real Madrid striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has described Tolu Arokodare as a major problem for defenders, praising the Nigerian forward’s strong start to the season.
Arokodare, 25, has rediscovered his scoring touch since sealing a loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to an Eredivisie club in the summer. The Super Eagles striker has scored six goals and provided two assists in nine appearances across all competitions.
His productive run has helped him put a frustrating spell at Wolves behind him, where he struggled to nail down regular playing time in the Premier League. The loan switch has offered him consistent minutes and renewed confidence, making him a key attacking outlet for his new side.
Huntelaar, speaking on Voetbal International’s Pak Schaal Podcast, said Arokodare’s presence and finishing ability make him a constant threat to opposing backlines.
“I think Tolu is doing well. He has scored his goals and is dangerous as a focal point when he is on the pitch,” the former Netherlands international said.
The praise adds to growing recognition of Arokodare’s revival. His club form also earned him a recall to the Super Eagles for the September fixtures in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The striker featured in both matches but could not reproduce his club scoring form, failing to find the net as Nigeria opened with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar before suffering a 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau.
Despite the mixed international window, Arokodare’s eight goal contributions in nine games have given his loan club a reliable attacking option. Huntelaar’s assessment further highlights the striker’s improved form as he looks to cement his place among Nigeria’s attacking choices.
