Ida Odinga Recalls What Transpired Hrs Before She Received News of Raila’s Death From India, Details

Mama Ida Odinga has opened up about the deeply personal moments leading up to the heartbreaking news of her husband’s sudden passing in India.

As the family gathers in Bondo for the first anniversary memorial, she has shared a poignant account of her final phone conversation with the late leader.

She has explained that during their late-night call, he had sounded cheerful, completely fine, and full of reassurance, giving absolutely no indication of any health emergency.

However, the quiet morning has turned chaotic as urgent phone calls have begun circulating among family members across continents.

Mama Ida has revealed that her sister-in-law, Dr. Akinyi, has reached out first, urging her to contact Ruth Adhiambo in India to investigate sudden complications.

When attempts to connect with Ruth have failed, Mama Ida has quickly contacted her daughter, Winnie Odinga, who has been present at the scene alongside medical personnel.

Winnie has explained to her mother that the political veteran has collapsed during an early morning walk and that doctors have rushed him directly into intensive care while performing CPR resuscitation.

Tragically, just ten minutes after that anxious initial update, Winnie has phoned back with devastating finality, confirming that medical teams have lost the battle and that he has passed away.

The shocking turn of events has left the family deeply devastated as the tragic reality has settled in.

This emotional revelation has resonated powerfully across the country as citizens and leaders have assembled at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi for the commemorative service.

While preparations for the grand event have reached completion, Mama Ida’s candid account has provided a moving perspective on the immense personal heartbreak behind the national tragedy.

The family has continued to draw strength from public solidarity during this historic period of remembrance.
