Police officer in Sidi Bennour commits suicide with service weapon amid sexual assault probe

A police officer stationed in Sidi Bennour ended his life using his service weapon on Thursday evening, October 1, according to the Provincial Security Department in El Jadida.The deceased officer, who held the rank of Police Officer (Officier de Police), was reportedly the subject of an ongoing judicial investigation at the time of the incident.

Preliminary information indicates that a minor had filed a complaint against him, alleging sexual assault. Authorities have transferred the officer’s body to the morgue for an autopsy, while the service weapon used in the incident has been seized for ballistic analysis.

The National Brigade of Judicial Police (BNPJ) is continuing its investigation into the case, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, to uncover the full circumstances, background, and motives surrounding the incident.
