Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi and his running mate, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will today in Akwa Ibom hold the two million – man solidarity rally ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The police and other security agencies have been deloyed to ensure a hitch – free event.
Obi and Kwankwaso, according to organisers of the rally, would join members of the party, supporters and admirers at the event.
At a press conference to herald the event, the organisers allayed fears on security infractions as the police and other security agencies have been mobilised to monitor and regulate the activities against any possible hijack by hoodlums.
Our correspondent gathered that the march which was initially scheduled for October 1 to coincide with the country’s independence day celebrations, was cancelled at the last minute by the police over security concerns.
Addressing journalists, the state coordinator of Ok Movement, Engr. Elijah Noah, who also chairs the event media committee, called on residents of Akwa Ibom and supporters of Obi across the country to participate fully in the rescheduled exercise.
