Analyst Predicts No NDC Flagbearer Race If Asiedu Nketiah Declines to Run

Mussa Dankwah, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has expressed the view that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) would avoid a competitive flagbearership contest entirely if Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the party’s National Chairman, chooses not to enter the race.

According to Dankwah, Asiedu Nketiah’s decision is the pivotal factor determining whether the party faces a contested primary. Should the National Chairman opt out of the flagbearership bid, Dankwah contends that no other aspirant would step forward to challenge the remaining field, effectively leaving the process uncontested.

The analyst’s remarks shed light on the internal dynamics of the NDC as the party prepares for its presidential primaries. Dankwah’s assessment suggests that Asiedu Nketiah holds significant influence over the shape of the contest, and that his participation—or lack thereof—could determine whether the party rallies behind a single candidate or engages in a competitive internal election.

The statement also implies that the strength of the potential field hinges on Asiedu Nketiah’s intentions, with other possible contenders apparently unwilling to mount a challenge in his absence. This underscores the weight carried by the National Chairman’s political decisions within the party’s hierarchy.

Dankwah’s comments come amid ongoing speculation about the NDC’s flagbearership lineup and the strategies of various aspirants seeking to lead the party into the next general election. His analysis positions Asiedu Nketiah as a central figure whose choice could shape the party’s electoral preparations and unity heading into the polls.

Neither Asiedu Nketiah nor the NDC has publicly responded to Dankwah’s remarks, and it remains to be seen whether the National Chairman will ultimately decide to contest the flagbearership position.
