Investigations after man dies at Kiambaa police station

A 46-year-old man died at the Kiambaa Police Post report office after allegedly getting stuck in the office grills while attempting to force himself through them.

The deceased was identified as Joseph Kamau Wainaina. His sister, Nancy Wairimu Wainaina, told police he had a history of mental illness and had been hallucinating prior to the incident.

The Officer Commanding Station at Karuri Police Station, alongside the duty officer, the duty non-commissioned officer, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kiambaa, and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Kiambu, visited the scene, located about three kilometres north of the station.

The body was processed by CSI personnel and moved to Kiambu Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where it awaits an autopsy.

The case is under investigation by DCI Kiambaa.
