Ikeja Electric apologises for failing to meet 20-hour Band A supply target

Ikeja Electric has apologised to customers on several Band A feeders after failing to meet the minimum 20-hour daily electricity supply target on October 25 and 26, with some feeders recording zero hours of supply on both days.

In a circular dated October 27, the electricity distribution company said it fell short of the expected service level on the affected feeders.

“Dear Esteemed Customer, we apologize for falling short of the expected minimum service level of 20 hours on the Band A feeders below for October 25th and 26th, 2026,” Ikeja Electric said.

The DisCo listed affected feeders across Ikeja, Shomolu, Oshodi, and Akowonjo, with disruptions attributed to network faults, grid instability, transformer limitations, and panel-swapping work.

The company said five feeders in Shomolu — 11-Magodo INJ-T1-Emanuel Keshi, 11-Magodo INJ-T1-Shangisha, 11-Magodo INJ-T1-Owulade, 11-Magodo INJ-T2-Bashiru, and 11-Magodo INJ-T2-CMD –recorded zero hours of electricity supply on October 25 and 26.

The company attributed the supply disruption to “panel swap”.

Ikeja Electric said the 11-PTC INJ-T2-Awuse feeder in Ikeja recorded 19.28 hours of supply on October 25 and 18.72 hours on October 26, while the 11-Oworo INJ-T3-Anthony feeder in Shomolu received 6.38 hours and 19.32 hours, respectively.

The circular listed “11KV fault” and “grid instability” among the causes of disruptions affecting feeders.

Ikeja Electric said other feeders were affected by what the company described as “power transformer limitation”, alongside faults on its 11kV and 33kV networks.

The DisCo said the 11-Alimosho INJ-T8-Okunola feeder in Akowonjo recorded 16.55 hours of supply on October 25 and 18.95 hours the following day, while the 11-PTC INJ-T2-Medical feeder in Ikeja recorded 15.82 hours and 18.72 hours, respectively.

According to Ikeja Electric, the 33-Orgba TCN-MTN feeder in Ikeja also recorded zero hours of electricity supply on both days, with a 33kV fault listed among the causes of the disruption.

The company apologised for the latest disruptions, saying, “we regret any inconvenience this may have caused you.”

Ikeja Electric had previously attributed reduced electricity supply across its network to a shortfall in power allocated from the national grid.

In a statement on October 6, the company said it was engaging relevant stakeholders to improve supply and would continue distributing available electricity “as efficiently and equitably as possible”.

Three weeks later, on October 19, the company again attributed reduced supply hours across its network to insufficient power allocated from the national grid.
