Chairperson of Egypt’s General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC), Essam El-Naggar, inaugurated the 86th edition of Nelly Kids Fashion 2026, a specialised exhibition for children’s clothing and accessories, with around 300 factories participating and export contracts worth more than $50m targeted during and after the event.
The exhibition is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade as part of efforts to support Egypt’s ready-made garments sector and expand its presence in international markets.
The opening was attended by Mohamed Abdel-Salam, chairperson of the Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries at the Federation of Egyptian Industries; Bahia Nazim, a board member of the chamber; local manufacturers; and international buyers.
El-Naggar said Egypt’s manufacturing sector has made significant progress in improving quality and competitiveness, praising the products displayed at the exhibition for their designs and quality.
He said Egyptian children’s clothing is increasingly capable of competing in international markets and meeting the requirements of both domestic and export customers. GOEIC remains committed to supporting and facilitating the work of Egyptian manufacturers and exporters as part of Egypt’s broader strategy to promote industrial growth and open new markets for Egyptian products.
Medhat Riyad
Tarek Riyad, chairperson of Plateau Exhibitions, the organiser of Nelly Kids, said the current edition brings together approximately 300 factories from different industrial zones across Egypt.
The exhibition covers 30,000 sqm and focuses on creating direct connections between Egyptian manufacturers and international buyers and importers.
Meanwhile, business strategist Medhat Riyad said the exhibition is targeting export contracts exceeding $50m, in addition to deals in the domestic market.
He noted that the final value of agreements could exceed the initial targets, as many negotiations initiated during the exhibition continue after the event concludes.
Expanding into international markets is a key focus of this edition, with particular attention given to Russia as a promising destination for Egyptian children’s clothing exports.
The exhibition is hosting delegations from 13 countries and is targeting the participation of nearly 800 international buyers.
Riyad noted that Nelly Kids’ management had participated in trade exhibitions in Russia in recent months to promote Egyptian products and establish direct connections with importers.
He added that rising clothing and textile prices in competing markets, including Turkey, could create additional opportunities for Egyptian manufacturers, supported by Egypt’s large industrial base, diversified product offering and production capacity.
For his part, Mohamed Abdel-Salam, chairperson of the Chamber of Apparel and Home Textile Industries, said specialised exhibitions are an important tool for connecting Egyptian manufacturers with international markets and understanding the requirements of overseas buyers.
He said the 86th edition of Nelly Kids provides a platform for Egyptian factories to showcase their latest products and turn business meetings into export contracts, supporting Egypt’s broader efforts to increase industrial exports and expand into new markets.
