Carlos Queiroz set for CAF Strategy Conference after Black Stars World Cup run

Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz is expected to be among the high-profile national team coaches attending the CAF Strategy Conference in Cape Verde next month, following his role in guiding the Black Stars to the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.The three-day conference will take place from October 7 to 9 in Santa Maria, Sal Island, bringing together coaches from Africas 10 World Cup representatives alongside other national team coaches, football experts and senior officials.Queiroz led Ghana to the Round of 32 at the World Cup, where their campaign ended with a 1-0 defeat to Colombia. He has since been retained on a permanent basis and will now oversee the Black Stars bid to qualify for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.His immediate assignment begins later this month when Ghana travel to Bouak to face Cte dIvoire on September 24 before hosting The Gambia in Accra on September 29. The Black Stars will then face Morocco in a friendly in Tangier on October 4, shortly before the conference.The Cape Verde conference will focus on two major areas: improving football development and sustainability across Africa, and assessing the performances of the continents 10 World Cup teams ahead of the 2030 tournament.Nine African nations reached the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, marking the highest proportion of African teams ever to progress from the group stage.The gathering will provide Queiroz and his fellow coaches an opportunity to assess those performances and discuss strategies for improving Africas competitiveness on the global stage.
