“I told Augusta not to leave me after I accidentally killed her during a struggle over a knife” – Influencer Killaboi tells Lagos court

Nigerian influencer Benjamin Nnayerugo, popularly known as Killaboi, has told a Lagos State High Court that he accidentally killed his girlfriend, Augusta Onuwaghagbe, during a struggle over a knife.

Testifying before Justice Ibironke Harrison, Killaboi, who is standing trial over the 21-year-old former Lead City University student’s passing, claimed the incident followed an argument over messages he found on her phone.

According to him, the disagreement escalated after he insulted Augusta’s mother, prompting her to pick up a steak knife and threaten him.

He claimed Augusta injured both his hands during the confrontation while he refused to release her phone.

“We dragged the knife for about 10 minutes. She was holding on to the handle while I held the tip,” he told the court.

Killaboi said he eventually gained control of the knife, but Augusta sustained an injury to her stomach during the struggle and collapsed.

He claimed he immediately tried to save her by covering the wound with a towel to stop the bleeding.

“I told her not to die and that I won’t break up with her again,” he recounted.

His account forms part of his testimony in the ongoing trial.
