Russia vs Nigeria: Nigerians react as Super Eagles played 3-3

Nigerians on social media have reacted to the Super Eagles’ 3-3 international friendly draw against Russia.

The Super Eagles came from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 against Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod.

Goals from Kelechi Iheanacho, Peter Edokpolor and Akor Adams ensured Eric Chelle’s men secured a draw against the hosts.

Lechi Sadulaev, Matvey Kislyak and Aleksei Miranchuk scored for Russia.

Reacting to the result, some Nigerians expressed delight that the Super Eagles avoided defeat against Russia following their shock 3-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau in the AFCON qualifier a few days ago, while others praised Chelle’s men for putting up a strong performance.

Here are some comments gathered by DAILY POST on X:

@mayor46211: “You guys complained about the bad playing field in Africa nation cup qualifiers. Thankfully you didn’t lose today. Congratulations.”

@Damianiyke1: “Until someone in that NFF tells Chelle that this 442 diamond isn’t working, you all will continue to struggle….doesn’t work with the main 11, CHAN 11 now this B team….he’s too set in his ways and might get him d sack.”

@IamDx2: “That number 11 took the game personally upon himself. Now Chukwueze needs to fight for shirt to get into the starting 11 of the national team. Thank you, Moses Simon, you did well skipo. Fredrick amid that number 5 omo them sabi defend they are our future. From 3-1 to 3-3. The boys are hungry.”

@olaoluakorede: “Pls play the hungry boys always….. Use our locals & develop them. God bless the Eagles.”

@Maxwellemma9002: “What a day. Imagine our under-23 Olympic Eagles drawing almighty Russia. You guys try. Bewene × Frederick.”

@BmKriistien: “A highly spirited performance from the boys from 3-1 down to 3-3. Nwoko, Umar, Bewene, Fredrick and Fernandez. These guys will do an exploit for the Super Eagles in the near future. We are in safe hands hundred per cent.”

@Ankpa_Girl1: “Give other wingers opportunity to play and stop forcing Simon down our throats. Also, stop forcing a 4-4-2 diamond when you don’t have Osimhen, it never works.”

@phransees: “Iheanacho should have been called up for the qualifiers.”
