‘I Will Deal With Them’: Ruto Sends Warning to Alleged Opposition Sponsors
AI summary
President William Ruto launched a direct political attack on retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of funding opposition figures to derail the current administration over its nationwide development agenda.
Speaking during a Sunday service at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Matunda, Likuyani Constituency, Ruto claimed that Uhuru feels uneasy about the government’s progress in delivering development projects across all corners of Kenya.
Ruto argued that the opposition to his leadership stems from past failures to achieve fair and balanced nationwide progress during the previous regime.
“There are people who are mad at me because I have said money and development should get to all parts of the country. I wonder why they are angry, yet we are all equal before the Constitution,” Ruto said.
He insisted that key flagship initiatives, such as affordable housing, major road infrastructure, and industrial aggregation parks, must roll out in every region regardless of political alignment or ethnic affiliation.
“Affordable housing should also come here, roads too, and industrial aggregation parks. Those who were not able to ensure fairness in development are mad at me for what I am doing to ensure we all have equal treatment,” he added.
Warning to Political Opponents
The president directly addressed the alleged sponsorship of anti-government criticism, claiming opposition forces want to shield previously neglected regions from receiving state resources.
“They are seeing development happening in all other parts, and that is why they sponsor people to undermine me,” he said.
Issuing a clear warning to his political rivals, Ruto asserted that he would stand firm against efforts designed to obstruct his administration.
“I want to tell the sponsor and his people I will deal with them. They have nothing new they are telling us. We know them, their capacity, what they can do, what they can achieve,” Ruto stated.
Reflecting on national politics, Ruto condemned tribalism, marginalization, and divisive political strategies, reaffirming his goal to unite the country through equitable resource distribution.
“And in 2027, we will bring all Kenyans together and send that politics of hatred, tribalism, and marginalization away,” he said.
“We will be stronger together as a nation.”
