Madueke Was Screaming, ‘Shoot, Shoot, Shoot,’ And I Was Like, ‘Okay’ –Jurrien Timber On His Goal

According to a post by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Jurrien Timber has revealed how Noni Madueke’s quick thinking and encouragement helped him score his goal against Lille.

The Arsenal defender explained that Madueke spotted his run and delivered the ball at the right moment, allowing him to take a promising first touch before attempting to finish.

Timber credited that initial touch as an important part of the move, admitting that it made the subsequent effort much easier.

“Noni saw me, and my first touch was good, which was half of the job, I think,” Timber said.

The Dutchman also revealed that Madueke was shouting at him to shoot as the opportunity developed. The winger’s encouragement convinced Timber to attempt a finish rather than hesitate in front of goal.

Timber decided to lift the ball slightly, attempting a chip that ultimately found the back of the net.

“Then Noni was screaming, ‘Shoot, shoot, shoot,’ and I was like, ‘Okay. I tried to chip it a bit, and it went in nice,” he added.

The defender’s account highlights the understanding between the two Arsenal players during the attacking move. Madueke’s awareness helped create the opportunity, while Timber’s first touch and finishing completed it.

His explanation also offered a glimpse into the spontaneous communication that can influence decisions in front of goal, with Madueke urging his teammate to take the chance immediately.

Arsenal beat Lille 3-0 with goals from Timber, Eze and Saka and Lille being unable to respond.
