Man Utd fans deliver clear Bruno Fernandes verdict after Michael Carrick decision vs Chelsea

Manchester United supporters are backing Bruno Fernandes’ return to the team against Chelsea.

Bruno Fernandes was left on the bench for Manchester United’s defeat to Bournemouth at Old Trafford last weekend. It came after he criticised coach Michael Carrick’s tactics in the defeat to Como.

Carrick and Fernandes have now set differences aside, with the midfielder coming back into contention to start this weekend against Chelsea.

While United fans have been frustrated with Fernandes’ form, even before his comments, there is enthusiasm for the club captain to return to the team.

Our recent poll on TalkingPoints shows currently – 83 per cent of fans want Fernandes to start the upcoming fixture.

United need Bruno Fernandes right now

There are conditions to Manchester United bringing Bruno Fernandes back into the team. His apology to Carrick needs to be genuine, and he needs to be played in his preferred role – not shunted out wide like he was against Atletico Madrid, Leeds, and Como.

With Carrick desperately requiring a result at Stamford Bridge, now is the time to bring Fernandes back and play his best player.

Since Fernandes joined the club in 2020, no player has scored more goals or produced more assists than the Portugal international.

On TalkingPoints, one fan made the straightforward claim why Fernandes should return, stating: “Yes because he is the best playmaker in the team.”

While Fernandes only has one assist to his name this season in all competitions, last season he produced a record 21 in the Premier League alone.

This week was full of drama, with high-anticipation that Michael Carrick would be fired. Ineos decided to give him a stay of execution, and a chance to turn Manchester United’s form around.

Carrick stands a better chance to earn a much-needed victory with Fernandes in the team – but the onus is on the player to produce.

One fan wrote that it is up to the captain to demonstrate that he ‘has a bit of pride in the United shirt’ and deliver. If he cannot, then United will be staring at another defeat in the face.

Another supporter acknowledged that Fernandes had made a mistake with his comments – but feels that it came out of his passion for the club, and the fact he actually cares.

barriejefferies13 1 days ago Bruno has been our best player for 5 years. He really is to good for us at the present time. He is a passionate player he wears his heart on his sleeve. Where as he should not have spoken out in the way he did , like all us fans he is frustrated. He needs to play in every game in his best position just floating around. Get behind the team now it is needed. 3 Reply Report

Manchester United fans are incredibly frustrated by the recent results too, and there are only so many ‘resets’ they can witness. This weekend’s match against Chelsea is a big opportunity for Fernandes and the rest of the players to show what they are actually capable of.
