BBC Presenter Peter Levy Sparks Laughter With Cheeky Live TV Joke About Colleague

BBC Look North presenter Peter Levy has entertained viewers once again after delivering a cheeky joke about a colleague during a live broadcast, leaving the veteran journalist struggling to keep a straight face.

The 71-year-old broadcaster made the remark while wrapping up a report featuring a Dacia Sandero during Wednesday’s programme. His unexpected punchline quickly became a talking point on social media, where viewers praised his sense of humour and familiar on-air antics.

Levy’s latest moment of mischief adds to a long list of occasions when his playful comments have left both colleagues and audiences laughing.

Peter Levy’s Cheeky Remark Sparks Laughter on BBC Look North

The moment came as Levy concluded the report about the Dacia Sandero, prompting him to joke about the names associated with cars.

“I love the car names. Phillip Norton, who is always looking for an escort,” he quipped.

The presenter then struggled to contain his laughter after delivering the line, making it difficult for him to maintain his usual composure in front of the cameras.

The exchange quickly attracted attention online, with viewers sharing their amusement at the presenter’s ability to turn an ordinary news segment into an unexpected comedy moment.

Viewers Praise Presenter for His On-Air One-Liners

Social media users were quick to react to Levy’s latest joke, with many celebrating the veteran broadcaster’s playful personality.

One viewer described him as “a comedic genius”, while another said living in Grimsby had its advantages because it meant being able to watch Levy’s “cheeky one liners”.

Others speculated that the presenter might have been encouraged by someone behind the scenes, with one viewer suggesting he had a producer speaking to him through his earpiece.

Another joked that the incident could prompt a call from human resources the following morning.

The reactions reflected the affection some viewers have developed for Levy’s spontaneous humour, which has become a recognisable feature of his broadcasting style.

Presenter Previously Made Risqué Joke About Parking Lines

The latest incident is not the first time Levy has found himself laughing at an unintended innuendo while presenting the news.

In 2024, he struggled to contain himself after a report about incorrectly painted parking lines in Goole led to a suggestive comment during the programme.

Reporter Becki Bowden explained that Yorkshire Council had acknowledged that some parking lines were too narrow for the average car. She added that the markings were expected to be repainted on Wednesday and advised motorists not to worry if their parking looked “a little dodgy” until then.

Returning to the studio, Levy responded with a remark that quickly took on a double meaning.

“Yes, so many people in Goole looking forward to those extra inches on Wednesday,” he said.

The presenter appeared to recognise the innuendo almost immediately and burst into laughter, struggling to regain his composure.

The moment became another example of how his quick remarks can produce unexpected comedy during otherwise straightforward news coverage.

Risqué Viewer Email Leaves Levy Blushing Live on Air

Levy has also found himself at the centre of an awkwardly funny exchange involving BBC Look North weatherman Paul Hudson.

During an earlier broadcast, Hudson joked about Levy’s pale suit after claiming that a viewer had emailed the programme to ask whether the presenter was about to umpire a cricket match.

The exchange prompted Levy to respond with a cheeky comment of his own, but the conversation became even more suggestive when the pair turned to another viewer message.

Levy took out a cue card and began reading an email from a viewer named Ann Yates.

“Ann Yates says, ‘I would love to have Paul face upwards’,” he began.

However, he soon realised that the message contained a more risqué continuation than he had anticipated.

The presenter turned red, interrupted himself and exclaimed, “Hang on, hang on,” before breaking into laughter.

Hudson, who was the subject of the message, admitted that he was “lost for words” but playfully encouraged his colleague to continue reading.

Levy refused after seeing what came next.

“No, I’ve just read the next line, I can’t do it,” he admitted.

The pair eventually promised the viewer a Leave It To Levy coaster in recognition of the email that had left them both laughing.

Peter Levy’s Humour Remains a Familiar Part of His Broadcasting

Levy’s latest on-air joke has reinforced his reputation for spontaneous humour during regional news broadcasts.

While live television requires presenters to remain composed and deliver information clearly, his willingness to laugh at his own remarks has repeatedly created memorable moments for viewers.

From the joke about car names to the double entendre involving parking spaces and the suggestive viewer email, the presenter has demonstrated an ability to find comedy in unexpected situations.

His latest exchange has once again prompted viewers to celebrate the lighter side of regional television, with many suggesting that his cheeky one-liners remain one of the reasons they enjoy watching him.
