First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has urged members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement to conduct peaceful and respectful campaign outreach ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that every Nigerian deserves to be heard and valued regardless of political affiliation.
She made the call on Friday in Abuja while commissioning the headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement.
The First Lady urged members of the movement to engage communities respectfully and communicate messages of hope, peace, unity, development and shared prosperity.
In a statement by her media aide, Busola Kukoyi, she described door-to-door campaigns as an important avenue for community engagement, providing opportunities to understand the concerns of families, the aspirations of young people and the needs of older citizens.
“The door-to-door campaign approach remains one of the most vital avenues for true community engagement, which gives us the privilege to listen to the heartfelt concerns of families, understand the aspirations of our young people, honour the wisdom of our elders, and learn directly from the women who serve as the resilient backbone of our homes and society as a whole,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu urged members to go beyond visiting homes and ensure that their message reflected what she described as the progress made by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She also commended the leadership and members of the movement for extending their activities to 14 states of the federation, urging them to sustain the momentum as the All Progressives Congress (APC) prepares for its presidential campaign.
“To the members of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, I encourage you all to approach every community peacefully, engage every individual with respect and remember that every Nigerian deserves to be heard and valued, regardless of political affiliation,” she said.
She added that the movement should seek to win the support of Nigerians through its message of “Renewed Hope, True Federalism and Shared Prosperity.”
The First Lady also expressed confidence in Nigeria’s economic direction, saying the country was on the path to economic recovery and sustainable development. She added that investor confidence in the economy had improved.
In his remarks, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Nigerians to have faith in what he described as the steady improvement in the country.
“The message is that hope is here, hope has come and hope is alive,” he said.
Delta State governor Sheriff Oborevwori also expressed support for the administration, saying improved revenues to states had strengthened their capacity to meet financial obligations.
He said the improved revenue situation had enabled states to pay workers’ salaries and contractors promptly.
The convener of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, who was represented by High Chief Matthew Tonlagha, assured the gathering that the movement would take its campaign to communities across the country to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
According to the statement, the movement has already taken its campaign to 14 states of the federation.
