Step-By-Step Guide To Download Your NIN Slip For Free

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has explained how Nigerians can download their National Identification Number (NIN) slips online for free through its NINAuth mobile application.

The commission outlined the process in a video shared on its official X account on Wednesday, demonstrating how NIN holders can obtain the document without visiting enrolment centres or paying third-party agents.

According to NIMC, Nigerians can download their NIN slips by following these steps:

1. Download The NINAuth App:

Visit the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store to download the app.

2. Open The App:

Launch NINAuth on your mobile phone.

3. Select The Service:

   Tap “Do More with NINAuth.”

4. Choose NIN Slip:

Select “NIN Slip” from the available options.

5. Complete Facial Authentication:

Follow the instructions to verify your identity.

6. Download The Slip:

After successful verification, tap “Download NIN Slip” to generate and save the document on your phone.

“Once verified, click on ‘Download NIN Slip’ to generate and save the official NIMC-issued NIN slip into your mobile phone,” the commission said.

Describing the service as convenient and secure, NIMC said the process was free and required only a few steps.

“It is that simple, it is free, available, and a few taps away. Get yours today,” it added.

The commission said the initiative was designed to make obtaining the document easier and reduce the need for physical visits to its offices.

NIMC launched the NINAuth platform in October 2025 to enable Nigerians to control access to their personal data across services, including banking, telecommunications, education and government platforms.

In June 2026, the commission announced that NIN holders could download their official slips through the application at no cost.

According to information published on the NINAuth website, the downloaded slip is the same official document issued by NIMC and can be used at banks, government offices and other institutions where it is required.

The National Identification Number is a unique 11-digit number issued to Nigerians and legal residents after successful enrolment. It helps establish and verify an individual’s identity and links personal records to the National Identity Database.

Individuals seeking to obtain a NIN for the first time must visit an NIMC enrolment centre, provide the required demographic information and undergo biometric capture, including fingerprint and facial scans, before being issued their identification number.
