The Jane Ansah Foundation has provided financial and material support to Laina Chamveka Phiri, a mother who has been living with paralysis since July 2017.
The assistance was delivered on Monday at Laina’s home in the Chimwankhunda area of Blantyre, as the Foundation responded to the challenges facing her and her family.
The donation included blankets, food supplies, maize flour, sugar and soap, alongside financial assistance to help meet some of the family’s immediate needs.
Laina previously underwent physiotherapy at Kachere Rehabilitation Centre in 2017 and 2018, but her condition did not improve.
Speaking to Jane Ansah Foundation Media, Laina’s elder sister said the family has struggled to provide adequate support, particularly because Laina has children who depend on her despite her inability to fully care for herself.
The family has expressed gratitude for the assistance and appealed for continued support for Laina and other vulnerable families facing similar challenges across Malawi.
Jane Ansah Foundation Director of Operations Lewis Kamundi assured the family that the Foundation remains committed to supporting vulnerable people facing difficult circumstances.
Kamundi said the organisation would continue reaching out to individuals and families in need across the country.
