Tension at Barau FC as Dominic Lorfa faces growing pressure over poor results

Tension appears to be building at Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side FC Barau of Kano, with the club’s General Manager, Dominic Iorfa, reportedly coming under increasing pressure following the team’s recent run of disappointing results.

The Kano-based club has struggled to meet expectations in recent weeks, leaving supporters increasingly frustrated with the team’s performances in the ongoing NPFL campaign.

The latest setback was a home draw against Kwara United, a result that further heightened concerns among the club’s supporters. The stalemate was Barau FC’s fourth draw in their last five matches, a run that has raised questions about the team’s ability to deliver on the ambitions of its management and supporters.

Iorfa, a former Vice Chairman of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, is now facing growing scrutiny as supporters demand an improvement in results and a stronger push towards the top end of the league table.

Feelers from the club’s camp suggest that expectations remain exceptionally high, particularly given the financial commitment made by the club’s chairman to assemble a competitive squad.

According to a supporter who spoke to FAKSMEDIA on condition of anonymity, the club’s investment in quality players and its impressive welfare arrangements should translate into results worthy of a team with continental ambitions.

“The chairman has spent a lot of money recruiting good players, and the welfare of the team is among the best. Anything less than a continental ticket will not be accepted,” the supporter said.

The sentiment reflects the growing belief among sections of the Barau FC faithful that the club should be competing for a place in continental football rather than settling for inconsistent performances.

While the club’s investment and player welfare have reportedly been encouraging, supporters believe that the next step must be to convert those advantages into consistent performances and victories on the pitch.

For Iorfa, the challenge is to ensure that the club’s resources, recruitment strategy and overall ambitions produce the desired results before frustration among supporters escalates further.

With expectations rising in Kano, the coming fixtures could prove crucial in determining whether Barau FC can steady its campaign and convince its increasingly impatient supporters that their continental dream remains achievable.
