EFCC Recruitment October 2026: Vacancies, Requirements and How to Apply

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has opened its October 2026 recruitment exercise, giving eligible Nigerians an opportunity to pursue employment with one of the country’s major law enforcement agencies. With applications covering different educational backgrounds and professional fields, the exercise offers several routes for candidates hoping to join the commission, depending on their qualifications, age, and experience.

The recruitment announcement, published on October 24, 2026, lists 4 employment categories, ranging from positions available to secondary school certificate holders to opportunities for graduates and professionals. However, meeting the educational requirements alone is not enough, as applicants must also satisfy the conditions attached to their preferred category and prepare the necessary documents before submitting their forms.

The application deadline is November 1, 2026, leaving interested candidates with a limited period to complete the process. Applications are free and must be submitted online, while the commission has also outlined conditions relating to age, medical fitness, personal records and other eligibility requirements.

EFCC Recruitment October 2026: Overview

The EFCC recruitment exercise covers 4 categories, each with specific qualifications and age limits. Candidates should identify the category that matches their educational background or professional experience before beginning the application process, particularly because the commission requires applicants to submit only 1 application.

The recruitment details provided for the October 2026 exercise indicate that the available positions include Detective Superintendent on Grade Level 08, Detective Inspector on Grade Level 06, Detective Assistant on Grade Level 04, and Professionals and Skilled Workers. Each category has different entry requirements, so applicants should review the conditions carefully before proceeding.

The key details are as follows.

Recruiting agency: Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

Recruitment year: 2026.

Announcement date: October 24, 2026.

Application status: Open as of October 25, 2026, according to the supplied recruitment information.

Available categories: 4.

Minimum age: 18 years.

Maximum age: 40 years, depending on the category.

Application method: Online.

Application fee: Free.

Application deadline: November 1, 2026.

Official application portal: Applicants should use the recruitment website published by the EFCC and confirm that the address belongs to the commission before entering personal information.

The commission’s stated deadline makes early preparation important, especially for applicants who still need to gather certificates or complete account registration. Candidates should also check the requirements for their chosen category rather than relying on general information about EFCC employment.

Detective Superintendent Recruitment Requirements

The Detective Superintendent category covers the position of Assistant Superintendent of EFCC II on Grade Level 08. It is intended for graduates and candidates with Higher National Diplomas who meet the commission’s educational, age and other eligibility requirements.

Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution or a Higher National Diploma from a recognised institution. They must also have a valid National Youth Service Corps discharge certificate or exemption certificate, as required for this category.

The stated age range is 18 to 30 years. Candidates should check their eligibility against the commission’s requirements before applying, particularly if they have completed their education but are approaching or have exceeded the maximum age.

Applicants should also ensure that their academic information is accurate and that the certificates they intend to upload are available in the accepted formats. The application process requires candidates to provide their personal and educational details, making it important to check all entries before submission.

A degree or HND does not automatically qualify someone for this category, because applicants must satisfy the other applicable conditions as well. Candidates whose qualifications or age fall outside the stated requirements should review the remaining categories to determine whether another route is suitable.

Detective Inspector Recruitment Requirements

The Detective Inspector category covers the position of Inspector of EFCC II on Grade Level 06. It is designed for candidates with a National Diploma or a National Certificate in Education from a recognised institution.

Applicants must possess either an ND or an NCE that meets the commission’s stated requirements. The category provides an opportunity for candidates whose qualifications fall below the bachelor’s degree or HND level required for the Detective Superintendent position.

The stated age range is 18 to 27 years. Candidates should confirm that they fall within this range before beginning their applications, as meeting the educational requirement does not remove the age restriction.

Applicants should prepare their ND or NCE certificates and other relevant documents before opening the application form. They should also ensure that their names, dates of birth and other personal information match the details on their official records.

Anyone who holds an ND or NCE but is older than the stated limit should not assume that the qualification alone makes them eligible. The requirements for each category are separate, and applicants should select the one that matches their circumstances.

Detective Assistant Recruitment Requirements

The Detective Assistant category covers the position of Detective Assistant II on Grade Level 04. Unlike the other detective categories, which require higher educational qualifications, this position is open to applicants who meet the specified secondary school certificate requirements.

Candidates must possess at least 5 credit passes in any of the following examinations: the West African Examinations Council examination, the National Examinations Council examination, the General Certificate of Education examination or the National Business and Technical Examinations Board examination.

The 5 credits must include English Language and Mathematics, and the results must be obtained in no more than 2 sittings. Applicants should check their examination certificates to ensure that they meet these conditions before submitting their forms.

The stated age range is 18 to 25 years. Candidates who have the required O Level results but are older than 25 years should not assume that they qualify for this category, as the age restriction remains part of the eligibility requirements.

Applicants should prepare the relevant examination certificates, together with other documents required by the commission. They should also provide accurate information about their qualifications and ensure that their uploaded files meet the portal’s size and format requirements.

For candidates who have not attended a university or polytechnic, this category provides a possible entry route, provided they meet all the stated conditions. The final decision on eligibility rests on the commission’s requirements and the information supplied during the application process.

Professionals and Skilled Workers Recruitment

The Professionals and Skilled Workers category is intended for candidates with relevant professional qualifications, educational backgrounds or experience in fields required by the commission. Its stated age range is 18 to 40 years, making it the category with the broadest age range among the 4 listed options.

The professional fields identified in the supplied recruitment information include healthcare, law, engineering, finance, administration, information technology, research and other specialised services. Applicants should select a role that matches their actual qualifications and experience rather than choosing a field simply because it appears on the recruitment list.

The healthcare and medical fields include Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing and Medical Laboratory Science. The legal and technical areas include Law, Engineering and technology related disciplines, while other opportunities cover Human Resources Management, Financial Analysis, Policy Analysis, Research, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, Library Services, Administrative Services and Clerical Services.

The recruitment information also lists Media and Publicity, Information and Communication Technology, Driving, and Estate Surveying and Valuation. These areas indicate that the category extends beyond conventional office based professions, although the specific qualification requirements may differ from one role to another.

Applicants must have qualifications from recognised institutions and provide an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate where stipulated by the commission. Membership of a relevant professional association is listed as an added advantage, while a valid national driver’s licence is also identified as an advantage for this category.

Candidates should examine the requirements attached to their preferred professional role before applying. A qualification in one discipline does not automatically establish eligibility for a different role, and applicants should be prepared to provide supporting certificates or other relevant evidence when requested.

General Eligibility Requirements

Beyond the educational qualifications and age limits attached to individual categories, the recruitment information outlines general conditions applicants must satisfy. These conditions cover citizenship, computer skills, medical fitness, criminal records and the accuracy of information provided during the application process.

Applicants must be Nigerian citizens and possess basic computer skills. They are also expected to declare their academic and professional qualifications accurately, as providing incorrect information may affect their eligibility during the recruitment process.

The commission’s stated conditions also require candidates to be medically fit and provide evidence of medical fitness from a government approved hospital. Applicants should be prepared to meet this requirement if it applies to their category or stage of recruitment.

The recruitment information further states that applicants must have no criminal record and must not have tattoos on any part of their bodies. Candidates should review these conditions carefully before submitting an application, as meeting the academic requirements alone may not be sufficient.

Cadet applicants are also subject to additional conditions relating to height and marital status. The stated minimum height is 1.67 metres for male applicants and 1.64 metres for female applicants, while the recruitment notice states that candidates applying as cadets must be single.

Applicants should consider these requirements alongside the age and educational conditions for their chosen category. Anyone who is uncertain about how a particular condition applies to their intended role should consult the official recruitment notice before proceeding.

Documents Required for EFCC Recruitment

Preparing the necessary documents before starting the application can help applicants avoid delays during registration. The supplied recruitment information lists several documents that may be required, although the exact combination depends on the applicant’s qualifications and chosen category.

The documents include a recent passport photograph, a birth certificate or declaration of age, an indigene certificate or local government certificate, and a primary school certificate. Applicants may also need their WAEC, NECO or NABTEB certificates, depending on the educational requirements of their preferred position.

Candidates applying through the diploma or graduate categories should prepare their ND, HND or degree certificates, where applicable. An NYSC discharge or exemption certificate is also required for categories where the commission specifies it, while applicants seeking professional positions may need to provide evidence of membership in a relevant professional association.

The recruitment portal’s stated document requirements include scanned documents or photographs in PDF, JPG or PNG formats. Most documents have a maximum file size of 250 KB, while professional certificates may be accepted up to 500 KB, according to the supplied information.

Passport photographs must be in JPG or PNG format. Applicants should check that their documents are clear, readable and correctly uploaded before submitting their forms, as poorly prepared files may create problems during the screening process.

Not every document on the list necessarily applies to every applicant. Candidates should follow the requirements displayed for their selected category and avoid assuming that a document is compulsory when the portal does not request it.

How to Apply for EFCC Recruitment 2026

The EFCC recruitment application is conducted online, and candidates should complete the process through the commission’s official recruitment portal. Since the exercise closes on November 1, 2026, applicants should allow enough time to register, verify their details and upload the required documents before the deadline.

Step 1: Visit the official recruitment portal

Open the EFCC recruitment website and review the available categories, qualifications and eligibility requirements. Confirm that the website is an official commission platform before entering personal information or uploading certificates.

Step 2: Create an account

Register with the personal details requested by the portal. The supplied recruitment information identifies the applicant’s name, email address, National Identification Number, date of birth and telephone number among the registration details.

Step 3: Verify your email address

Follow the instructions sent to your email address to complete the verification process and set up your account password. Use an email address that you can access throughout the recruitment exercise, as further instructions may be sent through it.

Step 4: Select your preferred category

Choose the category that matches your qualifications, age and relevant professional experience. Review the requirements carefully before proceeding, particularly if you are deciding between the detective categories and the Professionals and Skilled Workers category.

Step 5: Complete the application form

Enter your personal information, educational history and other details requested by the portal. Ensure that all information is accurate and that your qualifications are declared correctly, as errors or false statements may lead to disqualification.

Step 6: Upload the required documents

Upload your passport photograph, certificates and other documents required for the selected category. Check the accepted file formats and size limits before uploading, and confirm that each document is readable.

Step 7: Review your application

Go through the completed form and check your name, date of birth, contact details, educational qualifications and uploaded documents. The supplied recruitment information states that applicants cannot edit their applications after submission, making this review particularly important.

Step 8: Submit the form

Submit the completed application through the portal and retain a copy of your application details. Candidates shortlisted for the next stage will be required to present printed copies of their completed application forms during screening, according to the supplied recruitment information.

Applicants should keep their registration details secure and monitor their email accounts for relevant communication. They should also check the recruitment portal for official updates about screening and any subsequent stages.

EFCC Recruitment Deadline

The stated deadline for the October 2026 recruitment exercise is November 1, 2026. With the announcement published on October 24, 2026, applicants have a short application window and should avoid leaving registration until the final day.

Candidates who still need to obtain certificates, prepare scanned documents or resolve account registration problems should begin as soon as possible. Waiting until the deadline could leave insufficient time to address technical difficulties or correct mistakes before submission.

The supplied recruitment information does not confirm an extension beyond November 1, 2026. Applicants should therefore work with the published deadline unless the EFCC announces a change through an official channel.

Is the EFCC Recruitment Form Free?

Yes, the recruitment information states that the application is free of charge. Candidates do not need to pay an agent or intermediary to obtain the form, submit an application or secure a position with the commission.

Applicants should be cautious of individuals demanding money in exchange for recruitment assistance or promising guaranteed employment. Such promises should not be treated as evidence of an official recruitment arrangement, and candidates should use the commission’s official portal to complete their applications.

The safest approach is to follow the published instructions, provide accurate information and avoid sharing sensitive personal details with unofficial contacts. Applicants should also be wary of websites that imitate official recruitment platforms or request payments before allowing candidates to apply.

EFCC Salary for New Recruits

The recruitment information identifies the Detective Superintendent, Detective Inspector and Detective Assistant positions as Grade Levels 08, 06 and 04, respectively. These grade levels provide information about the stated positions, but they do not establish an exact monthly salary or take home pay.

The supplied recruitment announcement does not specify the salary, allowances or total monthly remuneration attached to each position. Applicants should therefore avoid treating figures circulating on social media as confirmed salaries unless those figures can be supported by an official source.

Actual remuneration may depend on the applicable government salary structure, entry placement and approved allowances. Candidates interested in salary details should consult official information rather than relying on estimates presented as guaranteed earnings.

Screening, Examinations, Interviews

The recruitment information states that shortlisted applicants will be required to present printed copies of their completed application forms during screening. This means applicants should retain their application details and prepare to follow any further instructions issued by the commission.

However, the supplied announcement does not establish a complete timetable for subsequent recruitment stages or confirm dates for examinations, interviews, medical assessments or training. Candidates should not treat dates circulating through unofficial messages as confirmed instructions from the EFCC.

Applicants should monitor the official recruitment portal for updates about shortlisting and screening arrangements. They should also ensure that the telephone number and email address supplied during registration remain accessible, as these details may be needed for communication.

Can Applicants Submit Multiple Applications?

The supplied recruitment information states that each candidate must submit only 1 application. Applicants should therefore review the available categories and select the one that best matches their qualifications before completing the form.

Submitting multiple applications or providing false information may lead to automatic disqualification, according to the stated conditions. Candidates should avoid registering repeatedly in an attempt to improve their chances or applying for categories whose requirements they do not meet.

A careful review of the eligibility criteria can help applicants make an informed choice. Once the application is submitted, the portal’s stated restriction on editing means candidates should take the time to verify their details before completing the process.
