Police identify alleged high-profile sponsors of ‘Ghana Jollof’ online activities

The Ghana Police Service says it has uncovered a financial trail linking highly influential persons in society to the online activities of Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, popularly known as “Ghana Jollof”.

According to the police, forensic examination of the phone of Salomey Awitti Baffoe, an alleged accomplice of Ghana Jollof, revealed mobile money transactions showing that significant sums of money were transferred by high-profile individuals.

“We know all those, including high-profile persons within our society, who are funding them,” Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor said during a press briefing on Friday, September 18, 2026.

Investigators say Salomey subsequently shared portions of the funds with other persons involved in redistributing and circulating videos produced by Ghana Jollof across various social media platforms.

COP Donkor, further said investigations established a separate financial arrangement between the two women.

Under the arrangement, Ghana Jollof allegedly remitted money to Salomey in Ghana to support the activities, who in turn funded the others involved in circulating the content.

The police said information retrieved from Salomey’s phone has enabled investigators to identify persons allegedly funding the activities and that efforts are ongoing to locate and bring them in to assist investigations.

Salomey has since been arraigned on a charge of abetment of crime to wit, publication of false news and remanded into police custody. She is expected to reappear on September 30, 2026.

Kodua is being investigated over videos published under the “Ghana Jollof” name, including one in which she allegedly claimed that there had been a near-coup at the Jubilee House.
