France’s First Lady, Brigitte Macron, dated France’s President Emmanuel Macron when he was still a teenager and she was 40, before marrying him years later.
Now Brigitte’s daughter is following in her footsteps, dating a business school student who is nearly half her age.
Tiphaine Auzière, 42, debuted her relationship with Antoine Lecomte, 22, with an Instagram post detailing their romantic break in Amsterdam.
Ms Auzière, the youngest of the French first lady’s three children, shared images of the couple driving to the Netherlands in a campervan before checking into the Faralda Hotel.
Footage shows them strolling around Amsterdam and visiting exhibitions, with Antoine Lecomte captioning the trip: “48h in ’Dam with Madam.”
“Whilst their age difference, a 20-year gap, is likely to cause quite a stir, the couple do not seem to mind,” wrote Madame Figaro, a French magazine supplement to Le Figaro
Their romance was first revealed by Gala, a weekly celebrity magazine, last month after the couple reportedly met on the beaches of Le Touquet, the Macron family’s favoured Channel resort.
Friends have drawn comparisons with Brigitte Macron, 73, who was a married 40-year-old teacher and mother of three when Emmanuel Macron, then 15, fell in love with her in Amiens.
“Antoine is an adventurer who is afraid of nothing, while Tiphaine is very like her mother,” one friend told Gala. “Like Brigitte, she only listens to her heart and does not care what others think.”
Another said, “It was an instant connection between them.
“They have a lot in common: a love of Le Touquet and thrills, but also travel and entrepreneurship.”
Brigitte Macron is also said to have given the relationship her blessing.
“She reacted like all mothers would,” a friend of Ms Auzière told Gala. “All that matters to her is her daughter’s happiness, so she is very happy to see her fulfilled.”
