Raymond Archer Becomes Substantive EOCO Executive Director After Months as Acting Boss
Investigative journalist and security expert Raymond Archer has reportedly been confirmed as the substantive Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), with his appointment taking effect on October 27, 2026.
Reports indicate that EOCO Board Chairman Daniel Domelevo confirmed the development, noting that Archer formally assumed the position on the effective date.
Archer was appointed Acting Executive Director of EOCO by President John Dramani Mahama in August 2025.
His elevation to the acting role followed the reassignment of his predecessor, Abdulai Bashiru Dapilah, to the National Security Secretariat, where he was expected to serve as a Technical Adviser.
His confirmation comes as EOCO continues to play a central role in Ghana’s efforts to combat economic and organised crime, including investigations into suspected financial misconduct and other criminal activities.
Archer’s experience in investigative journalism, particularly his work uncovering alleged financial irregularities, is expected to inform his leadership of the agency and contribute to strengthening its investigative operations.
