Deputy Minister for Finance jets in Nairobi for the High-Level dialogue calling for increased investment in Africa’s health sector

**NAIROBI: **DEPUTY Minister for Finance, Laurent Luswetula, has arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to participate in a High-Level Dialogue of Finance Ministers on strengthening joint investment in the health sector.

The meeting, being held in Nairobi, brings together Finance Ministers from various African countries that have signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the United States Government on health financing.

The forum provides an opportunity for the ministers to exchange experiences and discuss best practices for increasing investment in the health sector, strengthening international cooperation, and aligning fiscal and health policies in African countries that have entered into the agreements with the US Government.

Upon his arrival in Nairobi, Luswetula, who is representing Minister for Finance Ambassador Khamis Mussa Omar, met with a United States delegation led by Omar Kebbeh, Assistant Financial Affairs Coordinator at the US Embassy in Tanzania.

During the meeting, the US delegation provided him with an initial briefing on development-sector financing. He was also briefed on the agenda of the meeting and received key information on his participation from Jabiri Seleman, Senior Financial Management Officer in the Ministry of Finance’s Department of External Finance.

The meeting is expected to play an important role in strengthening cooperation between African countries and the US government in increasing investment and mobilising resources for the development of the health sector.
