
The Moroccan boxing team won three bronze medals and secured three spots in the finals on Wednesday following the semifinals of the Mediterranean Games.
In the -70kg category, Abdelhak Nadir lost to Italy’s Gabriele Guidi Rontani (0-5).
Meanwhile, Mounia Toutir lost to Turkey’s Sema Çalışkan (1-4) in the -65 kg division, while Yasmine Mouttaki’s run ended in the semifinals of the -51 kg division after her loss to Spain’s Laura Fuertes Fernández (0-5).
The national team secured nonetheless three spots in the finals, through Widad Bertal (-54 kg) and Saïda Lahmidi (-70 kg) in women’s categories.
Bertal defeated France’s Wassila Lkhadiri (5-0), while Lahmidi won against Turkey’s Dilara Sak by referee’s decision, as the referee stopped the bout due to clear superiority.
In the men’s division, Soulaiman El Samghouli also qualified for the -65 kg final after a well-earned victory over Serbia’s Dmitri Gorbenko (5-0).
