Young people from different parts of Lilongwe have taken part in a blood donation drive organised by Klassiq Rent a Car at the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) offices in the city.
A total of 44 youths took part in the exercise, with 39 successfully donating blood during the triannual event, which is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
Speaking after the exercise, Klassiq Rent a Car Marketing Manager Hope Phiri stressed the importance of blood donation and called on more Malawians to support MBTS efforts to replenish the national blood bank.
Phiri, who is an eight-time blood donor, also thanked those who took part in the exercise, saying their contribution would help save lives.
“We are happy that we have once again managed to bring together young people from different parts of Lilongwe for a cause that really matters,” he said.
“The blood we have donated today will go a long way in saving the lives of people who are currently in need of blood in the country’s hospitals.”
MBTS Regional Manager for the Central Region Felix Ayuba thanked Klassiq Rent a Car for its continued support towards blood donation activities.
Ayuba also encouraged other companies and organisations to follow suit and support efforts to maintain adequate blood supplies.
“As MBTS, we always appreciate Klassiq Rent a Car for their consistent support towards the evolving blood needs. We also appreciate all the blood donors for their participation and heartfelt dedication,” said Ayuba.
Klassiq Rent a Car organises trips for young people to donate blood at the MBTS Lilongwe Centre every four months as part of its efforts to give back to the community.
The initiative also provides young people with an opportunity to interact and share ideas on improving their lives and promoting safe lifestyles.
